Life Is Good!!!
Things are going really good lately!!! I just bought a 13" tv for my room so I can now watch tv while I do my computer stuff now. Its about time!!! Plus, now I can watch all the DVD's I've been buying. Some of the DVD's I've bought over the last week include: Freeway, 8 Mile, Final Destination 2, The Craft, The Faculty, American Pie 2, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cobra & Ready To Rumble. For some reason as of late, I've been on a major DVD kick... probly cause CD Connection has really good deals & lots of movies that I love & want on DVD. Woo Hoo!!! My bro Steve & his wife Amber are really close to having their first baby. Everybody is so excited & anxious!!! Its a boy... and they are naming him Alexander James. I cant wait to be an uncle. Uncle Mike.. Uncle Mikey... which do I like better? The baby is due around Dec. 14th... but we all think it will be before then. I guess this doctor they saw on Monday ordered another ultrasound so they are doing that on Friday... everybody just wants the time to come. But it should be really soon... cant wait!!! The weekend of Dec. 5th my dear friends Laura & her awesome roommate Raquel are coming out to Ohio to visit me for the weekend. I'm so excited for that as I havent seen those girls since the summer. Plus, I get to shoot a new set for Laura for SuicideGirls & a set for Raquel for BurningAngel. Rock on...as that will definitely be fun. I'm already counting the days till their visit... and its already been too long, I just cant wait to see them. | | 8:16 pm |
Baltimore Weekend!!!
So the weekend of Nov. 6th, 7th, 8th + 9th, my good friend Scott & I ventured out to Baltimore to hang out with all our Baltimore peeps & for me to say goodbye to Squeaky. We left for Baltimore Thursday nite... and after a few stops, seeing lots of dumb ass deer, we made it to Rita Mae's house around 4am or so. We were exhausted & totally & pretty much went right to sleep. So Friday we kinda chilled during the day. Rite Mae + Kate brought us breakfast which was nice. Later, we went & visited Colleen & Rita Mae's mom at work. That was really cool! It was nice seeing Colleen as I hadnt seen her since all the GF stuff went down over the summer. Then, back to Rita Mae's house for more chillin. Some more of our peeps showed up like Squeaky, Robbie, Waffles, Sami & Poor Baby practiced for their show on Saturday. That was cool! Then later, we went to Sami's b-day party... it was nice, but I felt like shit so I really couldnt have a good time thanks to that. We all ended up leaving pretty early & headed back to the house to crash pretty early. I ended up crashing out right away cause of the bad headache I had... but it was well needed. On Friday, we chilled early... Squeaky & her new boyfriend Matt who she was moving to California to live with showed up. Super great guy! We all went to Bob Evans for some good eats. That was cool as it was kinda like a tradition for us to go to Bob Evans w/ Girlush Figure. Then, back to Rita Mae's house... Poor Baby practiced for their show that nite @ The Sidebar. Squeaky went thru lots of Girlush Figure merch. & I got alot of free stuff that I plan on distributing to all of our peeps in Ohio.... plus even some promotional stuff too. I finally got a official copy of the Girlush Figure cd... and it looks amazing. I love it so much... and always will! Its so sad they are no more. I will miss that band more than I can put into words... but life goes on. But, there may be a reunion show or something down the line... who knows! We all went to The Sidebar for the Poor Baby show.... it was fun! And a nice suprise was a 4 song set by none other than Girlush Figure... who were originally supposed to play this show. It was Squeaky, Sami + Rita Mae... and they rocked it! They played "Circus Melody" "Ghost" "I Am You" & "Violent." It was definitely the closure that I needed to close the door on the chapter of my life on Girlush Figure. :( After the show, Squeaky & I had to say goodbye. She's moving to California & I won't be seeing her as often as I have over the last 5 years. Saying goodbye was hard... we both shed some tears. We hugged forever it seems... that was nice! I will miss her alot... and she still is & always will be one of my best friends. I'll definitely miss her!!! Afterwards, Rita Mae, Kate, Scott & myself headed home... and Rita Mae tried cheering me up by playing lots of stuff I like on the way home like the Dixie Chicks, Joan Osbourne, + Mindless Self Indulgence. It made me feel alittle better. We went back to Rita Mae's & went to sleep. Then on Sunday... we hit the road really early to head back to Ohio. It was definitely a great weekend that I'm glad I went out for. I have some amazing friends out there in Baltimore that I really love dearly. | | 8:08 pm |
Kittie - Oct. 29th!!!
I went & saw KITTIE @ the Blue Cat in Bellefountaine, OH. It was definitely the smallest venue that I've ever seen KITTIE play. It was awesome!!! I caught this band called MOTOGRATER who kicked serious ass. I picked up their cd at the show. They were totally insane! And KITTIE, totally rocked it out. They sounded alot tigheter w/ their newer bass player Jennifer Arroyo. She kicks ass though as compared to when I first saw KITTIE with her on bass. They even played some new songs! :) They played most of the good stuff off "Spit" + "Oracle" so that rocked. It was definitely a rockin time! The girls of KITTIE hung inside the club & signed autographs & took pics with fans which was cool. Those KITTIE girls do indeed rock... but I still & always will miss Talena!!! She was my favorite KITTIE bass player by far. I miss her!!! :( I miss the lineup with Talena & Fallon it it. That was their strongest lineup in my opinion. | | 8:01 pm |
Punk Nite 4 - Oct. 25th!!!
Punk Nite 4 was off the hook just like I expected it to be. Great crowd from start to finish!!! Lots of friends... lots of killer punk rock made for a great nite!!! This time around we had The Steet Freaks, Downtrodn, The Indigents, Eko-Tox, The Jackalopes + Legbone. Killer sets from everybody!!! I got pretty bruised up from the Legbone pit... alot of people did actually. It was fun though!!! Look for Punk Nite 5 to come back in late March!!! | | Sunday, November 2nd, 2003 | | 9:43 pm |
Dr. Chud's X-Ward - Oct. 23rd
I went w/ my good friend Jolie to check out Dr. Chud's X-Ward @ Jags in Dayton. Lots of cool local bands were also on the bill which made for a good show. Plus, lots of peeps were there too! The Stoics opened the show with a solid set... but didnt seem to get the crowd going quite yet. Then, Legbone played & had the floor totally rocking out. It was great! Lots of our peeps were rocking it out & singing along. And they even went old school & ended their set w/ "BFE" w/ Josh + Bubba helping out on vocals. It was great! Killer set from these guys as always. Next up was The Story Changes. Alittle too emo for me... but they are still good at what they're doing. My friend Jolie really dug them & bought their cd. And lastly, Dr. Chud's X-Ward rocked!!! The vocals are very similar to that of the newer Misfits. Its good stuff! Chud totally rocked it out for the Dayton folk. Definitely a good show to kick the weekend off with!!! | | 9:36 pm |
UK Subs + Toxic Narcotic - Oct. 17th
I went to Sudsy Malones in Cincy on Friday Oct. 17th to see the UK Subs + Toxic Narcotic + Total Chaos for one kick ass hardcore show. It rocked. Total Chaos opened w/ a killer set. Those guys had just toured w/ The Exploited so it was cool seeing them in Cincy. Then, Toxic Narcotic tore the shit off the place. I was there pretty much for Toxic as I had never seen them in the southern Ohio area. I dont think they had been around here since like '95. But, they sure as hell made up for it. One intense set that had Bill Toxic bleeding by the end of the set. It was great. Played all my favs which included: "Drink" + "Asshole" among many others. I hadnt seen Toxic Narcotic since I was on tour w/ Girlush Figure last year so it was cool seeing them again. These guys are one intense live band. And their drummer Sam is the shit!!! Their whole band just kicks serious ass live. I didnt even stay for the UK Subs as I was too damn tired by the end of the night. But, what I did see, I was pleased with. Good show!!! | | 9:28 pm |
Die Cheerleader Die - Oct. 10th + 11th
I got to hang out & see my good friends DIE CHEERLEADER DIE from Baltimore the weekend of Oct. 10th + 11th as they were out in Ohio for a series of shows that weekend. Good times!!! It was a double dose of shows on the 10th as they did an early show @ Midgard Comics... then shot over to Bernies for a later show. The Midgard show was okay... but the Bernies show rocked!!! Lots of fun! Good seeing my friends Downtrodn out there playing too! Crashed at Mikey's house... but not before stopping for some good eats at good ol Waffle House. Fun times... especially listening to Tiffany talk when she was drunk. :) Then the 11th... played another cool show @ a place called The Hoosegow in Middletown, Ohio. Cool all ages DIY venue... lots of kids out for the rock. Very cool! Nice peeps out there too! Yet another fun night of rock!!! After the show, the DCD peeps headed back home for Baltimore & ended one fun weekend for me. Check them out online @ www.diecheerleaderdie.com & be ready for their new record in December. Woo Hoo!!! | | 9:24 pm |

I'm Back!!!
Well, so I havent updated my LIVE JOURNAL since January... which has been a good like 8 months or so. I guess I had originally planned to use it as my Girlush Figure tour journal, but I've changed my mind. I'll keep the entries that I posted up here for awhile... then I'll probably edit them & delete them over time. I've just been soooooo busy with literally like a million things. Its all good though. I'm gonna try to update this pretty regularly just for myself really... and the few people who will actually read this. I'm definitely addicted to the internet! I dont really know what I would do without it. I mean when I'm not out at a show or at work or sleeping... you will find me online on my computer probably chatting away & surfing the sites that I hit up daily. Those sites include: SuicideGirls.com, Friendster.com, Myspace.com & the many band + music related sites I hit up too. I do also do alot of booking + promotion stuff so my time online isnt spent being useless! I keep busy to say the least!!! So my big PUNK NITE 4 show is just 1 week away. I cannot wait! Alot of friends are coming... some great bands are playing. It sounds like there is gonna be a ton of people there too! I mean the lineup includes: LEGBONE, THE JACKALOPES, EKO-TOX, THE INDIGENTS, DOWNTRODN + THE STREET FREAKS. I can't wait! Next week, I have press running to help promote the show... the Dayton City Paper (formerly the Impact Weekly) is doing something on the show as is the Troy Daily News. So I'm looking forward to seeing what they do. Plus, all the posters + flyers have been distributed & I'm hitting up the net w/ promo as well. I'm looking forward to a good time & seeing lots of familar faces. Well, I cant even say how many shows I have coming up... cause its a ton. I mean good shows are popping up literally everywhere. Its all good though. Here's what I have: *Wednesday Oct. 22nd GORE GORE GIRLS @ Skully's Columbus,OH *Thursday Oct. 23rd DR. CHUD'S X-WARD w/ The Story Changes, Legbone + The Stoics @ Jags Dayton, OH *Friday Oct. 24th BROADZILLA w/ Think Tank + Grit @ The Brewery Troy,OH *Saturday Oct. 25th PUNK NITE 4 w/ Legbone, The Jackalopes, Eko-tox, The Indigents, Downtrodn + The Street Freaks @ The Brewery Troy,OH *Wednesday Oct. 29th KITTIE w/ Motograter + 40 Below Summer @ the Blue Cat Bellefontaine,OH *Friday Oct. 31st LEGBONE w/ GRIT @ Old Town Tavern Springfield, OH *Sunday Nov. 2nd L.A.W. w/ Legbone @ The Hoosegow Middletown,OH *Saturday Nov. 8th GIRLUSH FIGURE OFFICIAL CD RELEASE @ The Sidebar Baltimore,MD *roadtrip* *Monday Nov. 10th LIZ PHAIR @ Bogarts Cincinnati,OH *Tuesday Nov. 11th (my birthday) PRIMUS @ PromoWest Columbus,OH *Friday Nov. 21st THE JACKALOPES w/ Legbone @ 1470 West Dayton,OH *Saturday Nov. 29th MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE W/ TUBRING @ Bogarts Cincinnati, OH *Saturday Nov. 29th LEGBONE w/ Eko-Tox + Skullsoup @ The Brewery Troy,OH *Sunday Nov. 30th MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE W/ TUBRING @ Newport Music Hall Columbus,OH Thats it for now!!! Eat Shit & Die Tour Part 1 - St.Louis,MO 12/19
We were up early since we had an 8 hour drive to St. Louis so that we were. Headed out of Toledo around 10ish & were on our way to St. Louis,MO. But, not before we hit up some McDonald's for some breakfast. Can't beat that... well you can... but it was damn good at the time. Arrived in the St. Louis area pretty early! It was still light out & it was cool being able to see the wonderful St. Louis Arch. Very cool! It was probably 6 or 7ish when we arrived at the Creepy Crawl so we were early. Headed next door to alittle diner where we got our food on. Great little place with some really good food & it was super cheap. Totally rocked!!! Then, headed back to the van where we chilled till we could load in. Finally, loaded in which didnt take long! We saw familiar faces in Chris from Tree Of Woe & our peeps from Sullen. That was cool! It really sucked cause this bar had no heat... and let me tell ya... it was super freaking cold!!! I was pretty much trying to sit & keep myself warm. It sucked balls needless to say! The show got underway opened by a band called Tok. Cool band... but not really my style of music. Next, Tree Of Woe rocked it out. I totally dug these guys. Chris from Tree Of Woe had actually sent me a demo & I even recognized some of the songs they played. Yeah, so they definitely rocked!!! Girlush Figure played next... solid set & nice crowd reaction. But, I dont know how those girls played in short sleeves & mini skirts in that cold, freezing bar. Yes, they really do have the biggest balls of them all!!! Sullen played last. It was odd seeing them without a bass player & Shanna's new look with her black hair. They just don't seem as tight as they used to be. But, it was still cool hearing my jam, "All Fall Down" so I was happy! We ended up crashing with Chris from Tree Of Woe that night. That was super cool! Pigpen crashed on the floor while myself, Squeaky & Sticklet crashed out on the little futon bed. That rocked!!! | | 1:18 am |
Eat Shit & Die Tour Part 1 - Toledo,OH 12/18
So alot of us slept in pretty late. I know I ended up sleeping in till like 3 or 4pm. Lazy me!!! But, it was all good since we were only like an hour from our next destination. You can't beat that!!! So we just chilled for most of the day at Casey & Beth's place. Watched some kick ass Nashville Pussy video footage. Some cool shit might I add! Casey & Sticklet played air hockey in which Sticklet lost! The rest of us chilled by just watching T.V. We all finally hit the road by early evening. Arrived at Frankie's in Toledo around 7 or 8ish. Cool peeps welcomed us which was nice. Met Brock who helped book this last minute show for Girlush Figure which was cool of him. All of us headed over to Wendy's to get our eat on. Afterwards, unloaded which didnt take any time. Then, all just hung out & waited for show time. This show had a bunch of bands on the bill which kinda sucked as it made for a long night... plus Girlush Figure played last! Kinda depressing night for me as most of the bands played that emo crap which I really can't stand. No offense to any emo bands... but I just can't get into that depressing music at all! I got to see a brief appearance from my long time friend Danyel which was super cool! And it was cool being at Frankies as this place brought back memories for me as it was the 1st place that I ever saw my friends BROADZILLA at. Yup, saw BROADZILLA open for L7 right there at Frankies a few years back. It brought back some good memories being there. A very cool place actually!!! The show finally started & I checked out the 1st band & I just got so really depressed for some odd reason. I honestly think it was the music. I ended up sitting at the GF merch. table for most of the night after that. Can't really remember what bands were on this bill except for Capture The Flag. I just know there was a bunch. I actually got bored sitting there & made a list of all the times I had seen Girlush Figure live. Later on, Girlush Figure helped out in coming up with all the times I had seen them so far. So now I have alittle list that I can refer to. So finally, after sitting thru all those bands... Girlush Figure played!!! It was actually a really rockin' set. A nice crowd for being the last band to play!!! Lots of energy... and they did win some fans over in the Toledo area. Very cool! We ended up crashing at my friend Danyel's house which was cool. It was a big house in which several people lived at. I still wasn't even sure who all lived there. Still it was nice to have a place to stay! Most of us crashed out while watching "Howard The Duck." | | 12:59 am |
Eat Shit & Die Tour Part 1 - Ypsilanti,MI 12/17
So we all slept till sometime early afternoon which was nice!!! Its always good being able to get a good nights sleep while out on the road!!! So we left late afternoon / early evening for the town of Ypsilanti,MI which was only about a 3 1/2 hour drive. Not bad at all!!! Arrived at the Elbow Room pretty early!!! Unloaded gear & we all just decided to chill & relax. It was frigid cold so it was nice staying indoors & keeping warm. Definitely wasn't feeling it for the show that night unfortunately! Cool bar & all... but it was a Tuesday night. Squeaky chilled by playing nudie games on the mega touch which she likes to do every now & then. And she's really good actually!!! Pigpen & Sticklet played some pool. I rocked out some Dixie Chicks on their jukebox which was cool! So we were all pretty much just maxin' & relaxin.' Definitely a good thing!!! The show finally got underway & there were 3 bands on the bill. It was a really shitty crowd... but again, it was a Tuesday night! I didnt really dig the 1st band who played who were called the Submarines I believe. Definitely not my thing! My friends Casey & Beth showed up so it was cool to see a few familiar faces in the crowd. Next, a band called The LanternJack who I had heard some things about rocked it out. It was a pretty decent set... lots of energy & their lead singer was all over the place. Crawling all over the floor & on the tables & even getting all up in Squeaky's grill in which he proceeded to put his finger in her drink. Squeaky really didnt appreciate that!!! Still, it was funny!!! And last of course, was Girlush Figure. They rocked it out to the masses of Ypsilanti. Seemed like there were some people in the place that dug them which was cool! Even the Lanternjack, who really seemed pretty full of themselves, gave the Girlush Figure gals their props. Very cool! Decent set... shitty crowd made for a pretty lackluster show. It was still pretty fun though!!! We all crashed with our friends Beth & Casey. They are super rad peeps & its always good to see them when out there in Michigan. They had a super nice place & probably the biggest T.V. I've ever seen. It totally rocked!!! And they had this kick ass Santa Claus that was actually a black Santa Claus. It totally rocked!!! And it even talked. Too cool!!! Ended up watching "Orange County" before most of us crashed out. Cool movie!!! | | Wednesday, January 22nd, 2003 | | 1:14 am |
Eat Shit & Die Tour Part 1 - Dayton, OH 12/16
So we all crashed till sometime in the afternoon. We all kinda just hung around my place & relaxed for the most part which was cool! Nothing too exciting going on!!! We ended up going over to my parent's house for a nice home cooked meal of lasagna before the show that night. That was super cool & the girls seemed to really appreciate that! We got to El Diablo Lounge in Dayton around 7ish I believe. We were early & that is always good! Just hung out alittle till the other bands arrived. Finally loaded in once the Legbone boys arrived!!! It was a very nice turnout for a Monday night show in Dayton. Everybody seemed pleased. Lots of familiar faces... Sonny, Ryan, Brian from the Mystery Addicts, the Legbone guys, the Give-Ups. It was a really good show! I had a blast!!! Finally, got to see the Give-Ups & they totally rocked it out. A short, but sweet 15 minute set of total Ramones core which rocked my ass off!!! I totally dug them! Girlush Figure rocked it out as well. Great crowd for a Monday night too! Everybody seemed into them! I know for a fact Sonny & I were!!! And of course Legbone... kicked my ass like they always do! A few technical difficulites between Mitch & AJ breaking a total of like 3 strings... but they still rocked!!! And it totally made my night hearing "BFE" which is one of my favorite Legbone songs. Sweet!!! Definitely alot better show than I had expected for Dayton on a Monday. I was pleased!!! Afterwards, back home to Mike's where we crashed yet again!!! | | 12:13 am |
Eat Shit & Die Tour Part 1 - Columbus,OH 12/15/02
Day 1 - Sunday Dec. 15th I hooked up w/ Girlush Figure around 3ish on Sunday out @ Midgard Comics in Columbus,OH... which was one of the 2 places GF played that night! The Midgard show was an early all ages matinee show that included a bunch of bands like KnuckleBuster, Downtrodn, & of course Girlush Figure. I'm sure there were others but I can't remember the names of any of them! So I hooked up w/ GF & we all just kinda hung out in their van for awhile & just kinda caught up on whats been going on while they ate Taco Bell. Then, we all unloaded all the equipment which didn't take long since some of the cool peeps at Midgard helped out too! Girlush Figure really likes to play Midgard Comics since the venue really knows how to treat their bands well. The show itself was okay... not a great turnout but it was an early show on a Sunday. It was cool being able to see the KnuckleBuster boys rock it out. They rocked it... including a kick ass cover of Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades." Very cool!!! Girlush Figure played around 5ish that evening... and played to probably the biggest crowd that was there that day. That was super cool! Everybody seemed really into them! Alittle moshing going on & thats always good to see. It seemed like some of the crowd filtered out after GF played. After their set, a few of the gals in the audience were keen on talking & getting autographs of the GF gals which was rad. We ended up getting some free pizza thanks to the fine folks at Midgard Comics. Very cool people! So we all hung out alittle... chit chatted... ate some pizza... and then ended up having to jet to their next gig later that night. So we all shot over to Bernies for yet another show! A light turnout for this one as well... but it was a Sunday night & the college kids were away on Christmas break. But, the bands totally rocked it out for each other & this show ended up being really fun actually!!! KnuckleBuster opened the show with a strong, kick ass set. Those KnuckleBuster guys freaking rock!!! Girlush Figure played next. Totally rocked it out to the masses in Columbus. And lastly, Children Of Reagan played an energy filled set that had the whole place up front singing & moshing. It was a blast!!! Even the Batman guy who frequents Bernies came up & sang. It was great!!! Overall, it was a nice way to start this Eat Shit & Die Tour. Afterwards, the Girlush Figure gals & I made the hour & a half trip back to my house in Troy where we all crashed!!! | | Tuesday, January 21st, 2003 | | 1:18 am |

Girlush Figure Rocked Indianapolis Dec. 22nd
So my buddy Scott & I decided to make the 2 hour trip to Indy to see our friends Girlush Figure. We always have a blast with them so we knew it would be worth it. We got to the club, the Melody Inn, just about 5 minutes before Girlush Figure arrived so we made good time. That was cool!!! So we hooked up w/ G. Fig & chit chatted about how their tour was going. They had played shows the few nights before in Kansas City, MO , somewhere in TN, & also in Raleigh, NC & this Indy show was their last show before their little Christmas break. It was a pretty cool show... I think we all had more fun just hanging out & talking though. Of course, the Girlush Figure set was rockin.' I didn't even really care for the other 2 bands who played that night. I think they were called Lil Jimmy Nugent & the Splatterpunks. Neither band impressed me at all. At least the bar had their tv on so I was watching the Raiders game during the opening band's set. So Girlush Figure & us kinda exchanged Christmas gifts... They got me a cool Kittie necklace which rocks as well as some cool pins of the Lunachicks, Bikini Kill & the Runaways. Very cool stuff!!! I got some pretty rad stuff for the whole Girlush Figure crew. I got them a cool boom box cd player for their van since it has no radio or anything and just can't see how they can travel without music. Also, gave them a ton of live videos of all sorts of bands they like, some t-shirts, a few Babes in Toyland albums on vinyl, & lotsa pics from the many shows I had seen of theirs. I think they were happy!!! It indeed was a fun show & we just had alot of fun hanging out. The guy that books shows at the Melody Inn, his name is Greg, did the longest & most fucked up interview w/ Girlush Figure that night. It was so bizarre the kind of questions he asked & what not. Hell, he even interviewed me as he know how I help grrrl bands & what not. It was quite strange!!! The interview lasted a good hour & a half & was pretty much jibberish after the first 5 minutes. I think I'll be getting a copy of it all though which I'm anxious to check out. So we didn't end up leaving the club till around 3am or after & instead of G. Fig trying to drive back home like they had planned, they came back to my house & crashed there. So we drove the 2 hours back home & all crashed there. And Girlush Figure ended up leaving my house around 1pm the next day. It was alot of fun!!! So I find out a few days later that Bessie, G. Fig's van, broke down in BFE, OH. I guess it was in St. Clairsvile, OH which is near the border of W. Virginia I think. Not sure on that one. But, they were stranded in OH for like 2 days & I guess the alternator in the van died. I felt so bad. So... they didn't end up getting home till the day before Christmas. I guess they had to leave the van at some service shop there in OH & went back this past weekend to pick it up I guess. I hope its doing okay. So Girlush Figure had quite the adventure for the 1st part of their tour. I mean starting this Wedesday Jan. 2nd, they are hitting a bunch of east coast places out in NY, NJ, DC, VA so if you out there, go check them out. Hope things go well for them out on the road & I can't wait to see them later in January. Rock on!!! Current Music: Menstrual Tramps - "Exploitation" | | Friday, December 14th, 2001 | | 5:21 pm |
Girlush Figure weekend
What a great weekend I had last weekend with the fun gals of Girlush Figure... all the way from Richmond, VA. It was a total blast!!! So I had helped get Girlush Figure 2 Ohio area shows & I was just as excited to see them play as I was just to hang out. So I knew it was going to be a blast this weekend. Anyways, I had them booked out at Sudsy Malones in Cincinnati for Friday Dec. 7th & then at the Liquid Lounge in my hometown of Troy for Saturday Dec. 8th. And the band was pretty much spending the whole weekend with me here at the house which I knew was gonna be fun. So Friday arrived & I was pretty excited. I didn't go into work so I was just gonna rest & run some errands before they came. Went & ran my errands in the early afternoon & got home to a sight of their van sitting in my driveway. I was suprised as I wasn't expecting them until sometime that evening. Apparently, they had left super early to come & suprise me which was rad of them. Still got to hang out alot with them which was cool. We chit chatted alot about the band & music & what not. Got to see their new outfits they were using that weekend & they looked fabu!!! We hung out in my little room prepping their outfits & watching videos & just checking out my music stuff. I think they were impressed!!! It was fun... Well, my buddy Scott arrived around 630ish & we hit the road for Cincy around that time. It was only about an hour & 15min. drive which wasnt too bad. So we got to Cincy & unloaded the gear which didn't take long. Then, just decided to hang out for awhile. It was like 5 bands on the bill & I had a feeling with that many bands on the bill it was really gonna be pushing it. And Girlush Figure got the last slot on the bill which I really didn't want, but they didn't seem to care. Other bands on the bill were the Slobs, the Hypochondriacs, No Good Heroes & Zero Crag who I knew nothing about. I had seen the Slobs open for the Lunachicks at Sudsy's years ago & did NOT like them at all. So... the 1st band didn't even play till at least 10:30ish & I knew it was really gonna be a push for time. For some reason, by this time I was feeling pretty shitty so I went to the back of the club & fell asleep for awhile on a pin ball machine. Then, woke up & headed to the van & slept some more. I felt alittle better by then. By the time I came back into the club, the 2nd to last band the Slobs were playing which seemed like a long set & the Girlush Figure crew weren't too happy. It was pushing like 130ish by then so we knew it was gonna be a quick set. Finally, the Slobs finished & it was around 1:50ish when Girlush Figure had all their equipment set up. Luckily, the bartender was giving them an extra 20mins. which was cool of them. It was NOT a good show at all!!! I think most of us were pretty pissed about the time of the sets the bands had played. Then, during their set there were dumb ass hecklers who were being dip shits. I just can't stand people who yell rude comments at female bands. Girlush Figure told them how it was though. Played a decent set... seemed a bit sloppy though. I think it offset them by being so angry & pissed by the time they played. It was still good seeing them up onstage in OH though. After the set, loaded up the van & hit the Waffle House for some grub. Then, back to my house for sleep. Didn't get back to the house till probably around 5am & all of us were in need of sleep. Most of us slept till well into the afternoon on Saturday... then we headed to Applebee's for a good meal before the rock show in Troy. I had a feeling this show was gonna be much better then the one in Cincy. After we ate, hung out at the house & watched some cool women in rock type videos which was cool. Left for the club around 830ish which was just a few minutes from my house which was VERY convenient. Loaded in & that didn't take too long. It was fun having to deal with the steep stairs we had to go up though. It was the Girlush Figure gals (Squeaky, Colleen & Laura) along w/ my buddy Scott & I again so it was pretty easy loading in. Hung out & checked out most of the bands on the bill. A cool band from MI opened the show called Hobos For Freedom & they were really cool. Lots of energy!!! Next, a band from Columbus, OH called Reinfield who I didn't really get into. Finally, Girlush Figure was up & they played to a nice sized crowd which was rad. They debuted their Christmas outfits which looked amazing!!! The set was great w/ people up front even moshing a bit. It was great!!! Lots of interaction between the band & the audience & that's always good. Good set... messed up one song but seemed way better compared to the night before. And they were having alot of fun at this one!!! Lastly, Legbone who are Troy natives ended the show & they kicked ass as I expected them too! The crowd was insane & it was moshing galore. It was a blast!!! Very intense set!!! These guys never disappoint me when I see them live. Overall, the show was great. It was such a fun weekend!!! I always have a blast when I get to hang out w/ Girlush Figure. It was actually kinda sad seeing them leave on Sunday morning. But, I knew there would be many more of their shows to come. And I look forward to seeing them again on Dec. 22nd in Indianapolis... Current Mood: coldCurrent Music: Girlush Figure - Target You |
